Lighthouse of Collier receives generous first-time donation from local philanthropic organization

Naples, FL – March 13, 2026

Lighthouse of Collier is pleased to announce that it received a $15,200 donation from 100+ Women Who Care – Mediterra. The funding will be used on high-quality, no-cost rehabilitation services for children, adults, and seniors who are blind and visually impaired. The $15,000+ donation will also strengthen program capacity by enabling LOC to provide individualized training, expanded outreach, and competitive salaries for our certified staff members. They have years of training and experience in the field of vision rehabilitation and meet or exceed all Florida Division of Blind Services contract standards.

100+ Women Who Care – Mediterra is a philanthropic organization where members donate money at meetings. Its mission is to support local, non-profit organizations. Lighthouse of Collier CEO Robin Goldstone Garcia presented to members at Wednesday’s meeting before receiving 138 checks totaling $15,200. She says, “Lighthouse of Collier is deeply grateful for the members of 100+ Women Who Care – Mediterra. Because of their generosity, more individuals in our community can gain the skills, confidence, and independence they deserve. We truly appreciate their belief in our mission.”

Garcia also says members were especially impressed by LOC’s Children’s and Transition Programs. Its Children’s Program focuses on self-advocacy, assistive technology training, daily living skills, and more. Some students in Lighthouse’s Transition Program will go to Orlando this June to participate in a Universal Studios Sponsored Educational Program called “Jurassic World VelociCoaster: Breaking Down the DNA.” They will uncover the collaborative world of ride design. Universal will be catering to their sensory needs. Students will have hands-on interaction with materials used in ride development and have detailed verbal explanations of visual concepts. They will also use large-print, braille/digital formats that are compatible with screen readers.

LOC’s mission is to foster independence and enhance the quality of life for the blind, visually impaired, and their caregivers. The need for expanded services continues to grow every year as our community ages and awareness of vision-related conditions increases.

LOC currently serves between 275 and 300 clients annually. Every milestone Lighthouse of Collier reaches is powered by the generosity of the community, grants, and the state. LOC is grateful for organizations like 100+ Women Who Care – Mediterra that work to make the world a brighter place.
