Lighthouse of Collier (LOC) is pleased to announce it received a generous grant from Arthrex in December. The funding covers LOC’s Empowering the Lives of the Blind and Visually Impaired Program during the 2025-2026 Grant Year. The program includes independent daily living skills, low vision training, assistive technology, transportation services, family support groups, vocational rehabilitation, and other essential classes that improve the lives of people who are blind and visually impaired.
This funding will help empower our clients who are blind and visually impaired attain or maintain independence through direct rehabilitation training, experiences, education, and socialization. The services provided will not only foster independence and confidence but also increase employment opportunities for our clients who are seeking work or require adaptive training to retain employment. LOC helps people of all ages get the necessary services they need regardless of financial and geographical constraints.
Lighthouse of Collier Fund Development and Public Relations Manager Victoria Scott is grateful for life-changing grants like these. She says, “LOC relies heavily on grants to make our mission possible. Every dollar counts. Having supportive community partners such as Arthrex ensures we are not alone in wanting to promote independence and confidence for people living with visual impairments.”
LOC was established in 2009 and serves as the only rehabilitation center for blindness and vision loss in Collier County. The organization also offers programs for babies, children, and teens. Some services include sensory and mobility skill building, parent education, and summer camp.
Lighthouse of Collier is looking forward to increasing its referral numbers, tackling transportation barriers, recruiting and retaining qualified professionals in vision rehabilitation, and eventually moving into a larger facility. LOC serves more than 250 clients annually and holds a GuideStar Platinum Status.
Arthrex is a privately held global medical device company that’s headquartered in Naples, Florida.
