CHARITY FOR CHANGE
Lighthouse of Collier selected as one of the beneficiaries

The Charity for Change School “Giver” Program reinforces 19 character traits designated by the school district and state, such as cooperation, kindness, respect, responsibility, and tolerance. The character development and charity themes are throughout the curriculum, which also incorporates the concept of volunteering. Throughout the year, students donate change or hold mini-fundraisers to raise money for their charities. Students also earn money from the Charity for Change community partners by playing the “Counting for Charity” math game. During five annual sessions, they learn about 72 different charities. Each classroom works together to decide on a charity to support, and then sets a goal to raise for that session’s organization.
Thank you!!

2011 Camp Highlights
2nd Annual Summer Camp for the Children

TENNIS FOR THE BLIND? YES!!!
WINK TV featured the first time event
http://www.winknews.com/Local-Florida/2011-07-06/Naples-kids-play-tennis-with-a-twist

Lighthouse of Collier’s 1st week of camp was a swinging success. The campers were introduced to tennis!  Yes, tennis for the blind/visually impaired.  The audible foam tennis balls make it possible for the blind to play tennis. The Arthur L. AllenTennis Center hosted the kids to a day of tennis instruction and fun. This first time experience for all was a ball!

The campers cruised into the 2nd week of camp with Freedom Waters Foundation and Cruise Naples for a day of fun on a boat trip.

The 3rd week of camp, the campers were caught horsing around at the Naples Equestrian Challenge for a day of horseback riding and instruction.

“Ah-the sweet smell of success,” summed up Lighthouse of Collier’s last week of camp. The campers visited the Naples Botanical Gardens, specifically the Enabling Garden. The Enabling Garden is designed for children and adults with all types of disabilities. This was the first program in the Enabling Garden and everyone was excited. No sight is needed to enter this garden. The wind chimes greet visitors as they enter the Enabling Gardens while the scents guide one to feel the textures of the plants. The campers were treated to a pizza garden making party-all the ingredients in a pizza; basil, oregano and thyme.  The pizza garden making party really ramped up the camper’s appetites! Thank you Chad, Ann and Danielle!!

The 2nd Annual Summer Camp was made possible by the very generous donations of Mr. and Mrs. Scribner, Lilly Cline Cleaning, Inc., and The Naples Beach Hotel.Transportation for the summer camp generously donated by American Comfort Limousines
